NH Maple Season Celebrated

LYNDEBOROUGH, N.H. – March 11, 2014 – Spring is in the air with the sugaring season upon us. Governor Maggie Hassan celebrated the arrival of this true New Hampshire tradition at The Maple Guys sugar house in Lyndeborough this morning.

Chris and Kim Pfeil, owners of the sugar house had the opportunity to demonstrate state-of-art equipment to the Governor and those in attendance.

In honor of the season, Governor Hassan took part in tapping a tree. Soon after, sap was flowing into her autographed bucket. “I’m delighted to be here to acknowledge the importance of agriculture and the maple industry to New Hampshire,” said the Governor.  “It is a critical part of our heritage. Our maple producers are great stewards of the land that utilize new technology to make this New Hampshire tradition better.”

This New Hampshire Maple Producers Association event was well attended with over 50 visitors including fellow maple producers, students from Lyndeborough Central School, Commissioner of Agriculture Lorraine Merrill, State Director for Farm Service Agency Jay Phyinizy and other ag-industry leaders.
